Paul Merson: Sam Allardyce’s Everton can beat Liverpool

first_imgSam Allardyce has what it takes to engineer the most unlikely of wins for his Everton side at Anfield on Sunday, according to Paul Merson. The Toffees face a seemingly unstoppable Liverpool team who have scored 12 goals in their last two games. But, after a dreadful start to the season, things have improved at Goodison and Allardyce’s reign has got off to the perfect start with two wins and two clean sheets.Speaking to Drive on talkSPORT, Merson believes Big Sam could surprise everybody in Sunday’s highly anticipated Merseyside derby. He said: “Everton go to Liverpool – they’ve just scored five and seven. But they’re going there with Sam Allardyce.“Last season he took a poor Crystal Palace side to Liverpool [and won].“He went to Chelsea and won at Chelsea who were the top team in the country at the time.“If anybody’s going to beat Liverpool it’s going to be him.”Listen to the game exclusively on talkSPORT from 14:15 on Sunday.last_img read more
